The Devourer of Worlds, Galactus, is not only one of the most fearsome creatures in the Marvel Universe, he is also responsible for creating a whole host of powerful characters, his Heralds, all fueled by the mighty Power Cosmic. However, his strongest creation was neither a Herald nor a living being, but a machine that grew to be one of the most dangerous cosmic threats in Marvel's history: Tyrant.
The cast of Marvel's cosmic characters is rife with incredibly powerful creatures who usually outclass even the strongest of Earth's heroes. Galactus is perhaps the most representative of Marvel's cosmic beings, due to the impression he left in readers during his legendary debut in Fantastic Four #48. To sustain his life, the Devourer needs to consume the energy of worlds, and to seek suitable planets in the immensity of space he usually employs a Herald. These individuals are recruited from the worlds Galactus is about to eat, and are given the choice to receive the Power Cosmic in exchange for servitude to their new master. Galactus' power reforges them into completely new creatures, capable of channeling the incredible energy of the Power Cosmic. The Heralds such as Silver Surfer are among Marvel's most powerful characters, but they are not Galactus' most powerful creation. That honor goes to Tyrant.

Tyrant's origins were revealed in 1994's Cosmic Powers #6 by Ron Martz, Scott Eaton, and Tom Vincent.
