If you want an Xbox Series S with furry controllers and movie Sonic and Knuckles on it, then you’re going to have to try to win it.
Given how limited stock of the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 still is, there have been very few attempts at making limited edition consoles, since there’s not enough of the regular ones to go around.
This one for the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie is definitely the most ambitious one so far though: an Xbox Series S where the circle around the vent is a big gold ring (which is no doubt why they didn’t use an Xbox Series X) and movie Sonic and Knuckles are plastered on the front.
No doubt worried that might be seen as too subtle, the console also comes with blue and red furry controllers, to represent the movie’s two main characters. The only problem? It’s not for sale.
The custom consoles are only being given away via sweepstake competitions, as detailed on the Xbox website.
Basically, all you have to do is retweet the official Xbox sweepstakes tweet below and include the hashtag #XboxSonic2Sweepstakes. There is a second method involving Microsoft Rewards points, but that’s only valid in the US.
There is a reasonable chance that Microsoft will still end up selling the console anyway, as while the Xbox fridge was also supposed to be solely a promotional item Microsoft got so obsessed with it they ended up selling it as a regular product.
Although in this case there is the fact that they’d have to check with both Sega and Paramount Pictures. Plus, those furry controller probably get old about five minutes after you start using them.
