There's a very strong chance this week is going to be a big one for video game subscription services. Leaked earlier this year, all signs point to PlayStation finally revealing the mysterious Project Spartacus. What will likely be a tiered system combining PS Plus and PS Now that allows subscribers to choose how much they want depending on the access that suits them and the amount of money they will be willing to part with each month.
While whatever it is PlayStation has up its sleeve has been described by some as a competitor to Game Pass, it's unlikely it will offer up quite as much, at least not right away. Xbox continues to add big titles to its own service, including Guardians of the Galaxy earlier this month. A move that apparently cost Microsoft at least seven figures since it only launched in October of last year.

It would appear another of 2021's biggest games could be joining Star-Lord and co. on Game Pass soon. That's according to Polish site XGP which discovered Resident Evil Village had been branded with an “included with Game Pass” badge. That footnote has since been removed, but as with anything on the internet, the screenshots remain. Even though it's in Polish, it's pretty clear Village's description states the game is included with Game Pass.
Should Village actually be coming to Game Pass, that would be another huge coup for the Xbox service. New titles are added to Game Pass at least once a month, and Xbox has quickly been accumulating all of last year's biggest games. Guardians of the Galaxy, the winner of the most GOTY awards in 2021 It Takes Two, and now maybe the game that had to settle for second place too.
