Long-suffering FromSoftware fans, rejoice - the devs have heard our prayers. For the first time in years, the studio is releasing a game with a pause button, letting us take a break from the action as we figure out what the hell to do next.
This honour is coming to us with Armoured Core 6, which will officially be the first post-Souls FromSoftware game to launch with a pause button. Unlike Elden Ring, Dark Souls, and the rest of them, we won't have to find some kind of workaround just to pause the action, with the menu button actually pausing the game completely.

We now know this will be the case thanks to another new feature coming to a FromSoft game - a photo mode. While this feature is hardly new to big games like Armoured Core 6, previous FromSoft games have been unable to have their own photo mode, since the game couldn't typically be paused. Now that it can, FromSoft is making the most of it, letting players snap pics of their mechs at various angles.
While previous FromSoft games, prior to the domination of the Soulsborne formula, did have pause buttons, this is the first ever game from the studio to have a photo mode. It remains to be seen how it holds up compared to other photo modes, especially since FromSoft is a newcomer to this feature.
What also isn't clear is whether or not this could signal a change in how FromSoft creates Soulsborne games.
