Fortnite Chapter 1 is returning this week, bringing back the original map after six years. But that's not the only nostalgic throwback we can expect, as Fortnite is teasing the return of Traps and The Baller.
If you didn't play Fortnite's battle royale mode at launch, The Baller is essentially a giant driveable hamster ball with a grappler attached to the front. It seats one player, so you can't bring your friends with you, but the upside is that it protects you from damage when you're sitting inside it. They were vaulted in Patch 10, so they've only been available in the Creative and Playground modes, but that looks set to finally change with Chapter 1's return.
There's no hamster skin, unfortunately, but you can always ride around in the Baller as a rabbit - there are a lot of bunny cosmetics.
Traps are what they say on the tin. You can place them anywhere on the map and, if a player walks into them, they'll take 150 damage. They were introduced to the game way back in the Pre Season, but were vaulted in Chapter 2: Season 2. So, they haven't been seen in three years.
Get ready to panic every time you walk into a building... and for players to hide in Ballers during the last couple of circles. Just like the good ol' days.
Joining Traps and Ballers are the original AR, Shopping Carts, and Turrets. You can't nip to a mall and rob a gun store with a shopping cart, but you can use it as a vehicle for two players. One sits inside (and can use weapons), while the other pushes it.
The major downside is that it's a shopping cart, so it has no brakes. If you wanna slow down, you need to hit a wall or gradually let momentum fizzle out. If you run into a squad, don't just fire your mate into them and leg it. Be considerate,
