A mod lets players fully immerse themselves in the streets of Night City. CD Project Red's sci-fi RPG already had a first-person narrative for its majority, with players only able to swap to third person for driving, to make players feel like they were exploring its rich world, but a Virtual Reality mod has taken advantage of this to take things a step further.
bengeskin shared a clip of a VR mod in action on Threads, showing V's perspective as they drive around different parts of Night City at different times of the day and stating "". While this may seem no different from the normal first-person view players can see when driving the car in the base game, the fact that bengeskin was able to move their head to look around instead of depending on the right stick of the controller made the experience far more fluid, and would likely come in handy in the recently implemented police chases to better keep tabs on where enemy vehicles are coming from.
bengeskin went on to explain that they were using the LukeRoss R.E.A.L VR Mod with Virtual Desktop streamer to sync it to a Meta Quest 3 headset. This can be found on LukeRoss' Patreon, where there are several other VR mods for other games such as or, both of which have been shown on Eurogamer's YouTube channel. Previously, LukeRoss made a VR for, but unfortunately, Take-Two issued a DMCA takedown notice, as the company has been known to do with many mods for its games, much to the frustration of its community and so this is no longer available.
These mods seem to do an incredible job of letting players better immerse themselves in the rich environments these titles are known for. As pointed out by a user on the CD Projekt Red forums, it's worth noting in the case of at least, the R.E.A.L. VR mod still requires a regular game controller and has a gun or weapon mapped to the player's facial movements, rather than the experience players have with full VR titles in which they have a specific controller in each hand that
