Sony is releasing Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition tomorrow, and the game is so large the physical version will include two discs.
As VGC reports, this will be the first time a PS5 game requires two discs. Each PS5 disc is capable of storing up to 100GB of data, which is ample for most games. However, this complete edition of Forbidden West includes the Burning Shores story expansion, a soundtrack, art book, comic book, and a number of in-game items. All that takes the size of the data up to 121GB.
The inclusion of two discs for the physical version of the PS5 game was confirmed by the Does it play? X account. The post includes a photo of the back of the PS5 box, which clearly shows the amount of storage required and the "2 Discs" reference.
It's unlikely we'll see many PS5 games shipping on more than one disc due to the extra costs involved and the growing popularity of digital games. Forbidden West is an extremely popular game with good reason, so the expense of a Complete Edition physical release is very low risk for Sony.
Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition will be available on Oct. 6 for PS5, but the same edition will be released for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store in early 2024.
