It’s always important to celebrate gaming anniversaries when they arrive, if for no other reason than to honor what came before and discuss their impact on the franchise, they’re a part of. An excellent example of this is Fire Emblem Three Houses. The game was the first of three titles from the franchise on Nintendo Switch, but most would agree that it’s the best of the set. The title came out four years ago today, and fans still remember the game, its characters, and how it helped elevate the franchise even further in the eyes of fans and Nintendo.
Previously, the series was on “thin ice” with Nintendo, as it had only been successful in Japan. But then, it released a “last-ditch-effort” title on the DS that changed everything. A 3DS follow-up did even better, and then Fire Emblem Three Houses were their first effort in two generations to come to consoles, and they didn’t miss.
The grand and branching tale of Fodlan and the Officer’s Academy wowed critics and fans alike. They reveled in the chance to be the mercenary Byleth and choose between the Blue Lions, Black Eagles, or Golden Deer houses to see what came next.
