A new Final Fantasy XVI trailer was shared online a few hours ago, providing yet another look at the game ahead of its release next month.
The new Salvation trailer, which can be watched below, provides new glimpses of the game's world of Valisthea, main character Clive, gameplay, and much more. Fate seems to have it out for him, but it seems Clive, and all those who will share his journey with him, are determined to defy it and save themselves from what lies ahead.
Final Fantasy XVI is setting out to be a much different game than its predecessors. Powered by an engine specifically developed for the game by Creative Business Unit III, the sixteenth main entry in the series by Square Enix will be a full-on action RPG inspired by the Devil May Cry series with a deep and involving story which the developer created after watching Game of Thrones in the hopes of achieving a similar vibe. You can learn more about the game by checking out Kai's latest preview, where he highlighted how the game's RPG mechanics have a good chance of not feeling lacking, despite the renewed focus on action gameplay elements.
Being able to finally see the townscapes and dabble around in side quests, as mundane as delivery fetch quests can be before an introduction, does give me some hope for Final Fantasy XVI being able to bring the RPG part of the equation to the forefront without making sacrifices to accommodate for the action gameplay.
Final Fantasy XVI launches on June 22nd on PlayStation 5 worldwide. A PC version will eventually release in the future, but well after the six-month PS5 exclusivity period ends.
