Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's Creative Director Asks Fans Not To Spoil The Ending
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's creative director, Tetsuya Nomura, has asked players not to spoil the game's story, especially when it comes to the "vital" moments.
After four years of waiting, we're finally approaching the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Reviews for the game just dropped today and as more players start to get their hands on it from early copies (which are out in the wild already) the game's creative director, Tetsuya Nomura, has shared a message requesting that fans are careful about posting spoilers.
The statement was shared over on the Final Fantasy 7 Twitter account and starts with Nomura repeating the streaming guidelines that were shared some time ago, but are being brought up again since they're considered an "important request". Nomura then says that he'd be grateful to anyone who is sharing anything related to spoilers online if they include warnings for the content and don't include images showing "vital" parts of the story in thumbnails.
Nomura's statement also brings up the fact that Square Enix deliberately didn't restrict the record and share functions on PS5 for Rebirth, as they want players to be able to share and comment on what they see in the game. This makes spoilers a whole lot more likely, which is why Nomura is requesting that players be extra careful about what they post and show "respect" to others who haven't yet finished the game.
"When posting anything that strongly relates to the game's story on social media and video sharing sites, I ask that you please make sure to include spoiler warnings so as to not effect the experience of those who have yet to play the game."
As well-meaning as Nomura's message is, knowing how the internet is with the smallest of spoilers, let alone a potential reworking of one of the most infamous moments in gaming history, it's unlikely that it's going to be strictly followed.
