Final Fantasy 16 is set to get a demo later today, likely going live during the pre-launch event. This showcase is set to start at 7pm ET /11pm BST, and with a recent ad mentioning a playable public demo, it seems likely that it will be announced at the event, giving everyone the chance to try the latest Final Fantasy out before its launch on June 22.
This news comes from a Spanish Final Fantasy 16 ad that appears to have gone out a little early. At the end of the trailer, the text reads, "Play the demo now". This is before the demo has even been announced, although Square Enix did tell us to expect one close to launch.

The pre-launch event would be the best time to release the demo, since we're now less than two weeks away from Final Fantasy 16's release date. Like the final game, the demo will only be available on PlayStation 5. Although the exclusivity only lasts six months, so we could see a similar demo come to PC and Xbox Series X/S further down the line.
We last heard about this demo on June 1, when some fans who had preordered the game noticed it appear in their PlayStation libraries, albeit unplayable. Thankfully, the wording of this ad seems to suggest that the demo will be available to all, not just those who have already purchased the game. This is something that would certainly defeat the point of an early sneak peek at the game - not that this has stopped publishers before.
We'll find out for sure in a few hours when the Final Fantasy 16 pre-launch event kicks off. This will start well after the Xbox Games Showcase comes to a close, so you won't have to pick between one or the other.
It won't be too surprising to see Square Enix make the demo
