Final Fantasy 14 Fan Fest Ticket Codes Are Being Scalped For Over $1,000

Final Fantasy 14's in-person Fan Festival conventions are returning this year in both London and Las Vegas. And as you might have expected from a wildly popular convention that was forced to take three years off due to the pandemic, there are a lot of eager Warriors of Light ready to party.

Square Enix understood there was going to be a lot of pent-up demand for Fan Fest tickets, so the Final Fantasy 14 developer instituted a lottery system. Fans had to register their interest in February and then wait for their name to be picked in the lottery, with an access code to purchase tickets sent out on March 3. According to an informal poll, roughly 15 percent of those who wanted tickets actually got them, leaving a lot of sad players and doing little to alleviate that pent-up demand.

And when there's unmet demand, there are scalpers. Head on over to eBay and you'll find access codes being sold for anywhere from $500 to $1,125 USD. We should note that these are just the access codes. If you actually purchased one of these eBay listings, you'd still then have to go to Square Enix's site to actually buy the tickets, which will run you another $199.99. That's potentially over $1,300 just to go to Fan Fest Las Vegas.

But then again, maybe that'll be worth it. Fans always get a sweet goodie bag at these things (some of which are still being resold on eBay for hundreds of dollars), and this year, game director Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida has promised something "substantial." We don't know what that might be, but it could be an announcement related to Final Fantasy 14's tenth anniversary, which arrives later this summer.
