Given the amount of combat the average player will see in a campaign, it just makes sense to install this mod which improves movement by making everything much smoother and more action-orientated. One of the most widely held beliefs regarding the fourth mainline game in the franchise is that while its role-playing elements feel underbaked, its combat is leagues ahead of every other installment. Having said that, it's still fairly clunky, especially when so many modern shooters have figured out how to handle movement through a first-person perspective.
Thanks to bp42s over on Nexus Mods, the «Enhanced Movement» mod adds a wealth of new features to that make the game more fun to control. Many of the adjustments are minor but have a major impact on movement; Sprinting while outside of combat no longer drains AP while directional movement speed has been reduced by 25% when backpedaling and 15% when strafing. Yet the biggest addition is the ability to slide, which boasts a unique animation and allows the Sole Survivor to use their weapon in the middle of the action.
Whether it's realistic character models or environmental adjustments, these mods make Fallout 4 feel more like Prime Video's TV series.
While it's true that 's combat is much better than the likes of and, it could be better. Beyond the clunky movement, enemies aren't especially difficult to defeat given that the AI running them isn't too smart, meaning they either stand in one place waiting to be shot or simply charge ahead with little self-preservation. There are ways to fix this as the modding community has had just under a decade to refine Bethesda's original combat mechanics.
