Darkest Dungeon II is getting a major campaign expansion for free called Kingdoms, alongside a paid DLC called Inhuman Bondage, and Red Hook Studios has released details about both. First off the paid DLC, Inhuman Bondage, will be coming in Q4 2024. This will add a new Hero who will have unique trinkets, weapons, palettes, and mechanics. It will also add a new region the size of the Sluice which will also add a new enemy faction and items.
The Kingdoms campaign will be released in three parts and the first of that is Hunger of the Beast Clan. This release will need players to protect the realm from a new enemy factions, which in this case are the beast men. Players will have to travel across the land to complete quests and upgrade the inns around the realm. Kingdoms will run parallel to the main Confessions campaign.
In our Darkest Dungeon II review, Steve said, “Darkest Dungeon II is to be applauded for not resting on its laurels, instead opting to make significant changes from its predecessor. The style, challenge, and strategic brilliance remain and that is enough to make it stand out still. However, the focus on roguelike randomness and excessive grind does make this a very different experience and one that didn’t gel for me. If you have the patience to explore the rich detail of the mechanics and the stoicism to deal with the inevitable deaths and disappointments then this is a journey worth taking. Just don’t expect it to be a comfortable ride.”
