Do you often face internet issues while making payments via UPI? If yes, then we have solved your problem. You can make online payments via UPI without even connecting to the internet. Since many of us depend on UPI and other online payment methods for most of the transactions, it sometimes becomes irritating when a transaction fails. One of the major reasons for transaction failure or slow transaction process is poor network connectivity. However, NPCI resolved this issue by introducing another method of transferring money.
In areas where there’s slow internet connectivity, the system uses Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) framework i.e, you need to dial *99# to set up and enable UPI payments through this system. Here’s a step-by-step process to do so.
Before you begin setting up the UPI payments system, do note that you can only use the mobile number you’ve registered with your bank and the transaction amount limit is set at Rs. 5,000 per transaction. Now follow the below steps:
Dial *99# using your registered mobile number.
Next, select your language from the menu and enter the bank name or the first four characters of the IFSC code.
Now select one of the accounts identified by the system and select your account. Once done, you’ll be asked to input the last 6 digits of your debit card, expiry date of the debit card.
Now, you will be asked to set up your UPI Pin and you’re all set.
To use the UPI offline, dial *99# again and select the first option.
Next, enter the UPI ID of the person to whom you would like to send the money.
Now input the amount to be transferred and enter the UPI pin you created. The money will be sent.
