Note: This is a developing story. More new info about Fable will be added soon.
The last few years have been a bit of a rollercoaster for Fable fans. Back in 2020, Microsoft announced Forza Horizon developer Playground Games was making a new Fable, but beyond a brief teaser trailer, we haven’t seen anything of the game. Since then, we’ve heard conflicting reports – there have been rumors that the game had been rescoped and development was moving slowly, while Xbox Game Studios boss Matt Booty has said he’s “so encouraged” with how the game is developing. Where’s the truth lie?
Well, today during the big Xbox Games Showcase we finally got a first peek at the new Fable in action, albeit a rather brief one, which also seemed to contain some cutscenes. The trailer focuses on “Dave,” described as a “vegetable enthusiast” and an unnamed female hero (I’m sure you’ll be able to design your own hero). Soon enough, it’s revealed that Dave is actually a giant, and we see a few brief clips of what looks to be an action scene/boss fight, as you battle the vegetable-loving giant Jack and the Beanstalk style. You can check out the new Fable trailer for yourself, below.
Still a relatively brief taste, but it’s enough to pique my interest. The new Fable is definitely retaining the original game’s sense of humor and very-British flavor (I wonder if any other UK celebs will be showing up). Hopefully, we don’t have to wait another three years to see more of the game.
Fable is PC and Xbox Series X/S. A release window has yet to be specified.
