James Cameron’s Avatar franchise is hot again following the success of Avatar: The Way of Water, and so, the Massive-Entertainment-developed Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora could be one of Ubisoft’s best bets for digging out of the hole they’ve found themselves in the last couple of years. Earlier looks at Frontiers of Pandora have been quite promising, and today during the big Ubisoft Forward showcase, we got an even more eye-opening look at the open-world adventure. Perhaps even more exciting, we also got a release window for the game, which will be winging our way in December. Ubisoft dropped a new trailer for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which you can check out below.
In addition to the trailer, we got a longer deep-dive, showing off Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora’s world, combat, character progression, and more. While exploring on foot, the game will be strictly first-person, but it looks like riding your banshee can be done in third person. The open-world is split between large jungle, plains, temperate forest biomes, with each one having their own unique tribe of Na’vi. It seems the main goal of the game is to take down various RDA outposts, which will allow the natural world to regrow. Speaking of which, Frontiers of Pandora’s combat looks surprisingly intense, giving the players the option to use traditional Na’vi bows and spears, or human weapons like assault rifles and rocket launchers.
Looks like a solid overall package. While Ubisoft as a whole has had its problems in recent years, Massive Entertainment has been a rock, and it looks like the studio could be set to deliver another hit. Haven’t been keeping up with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora? Here’s the game’s official description…
