The War Within introduces interesting new mechanics to both Crafting and Gathering Professions. While players expect Profession updates each time a new expansion launches, The War Within is bringing an unusual number of changes that can alter how the flow of a Profession works, or make the Crafting or Gathering process more difficult than it has been in the past.
We're taking a look at what's new and different with each Profession — this time, with a look at Mining! Overall, Khaz Algar Mining is very similar to previous iterations of the Profession. Miners will travel the new zones looking for various Ore deposits in both normal and seam variants, and will have three different types of Ore to mine: Bismuth, Ironclaw Ore, and Aqirite. What's unique this time around, though, is a specific type of Ore node — the EZ-Mine variant.
Don't let the name fool you — the EZ-Mine nodes are anything but. These are covered in dynamite, and as soon as you start trying to mine them, live explosives begin throwing sticks of dynamite around and directly at you. Stand in the explosives' radius, and you'll take a lot of damage with a nasty knockback on top of it, as well as resetting your Mining cast. To make this even more fun, EZ-Mine Ore nodes have a nasty habit of spawning up against walls or other areas that would block the natural range of the dynamite, leaving you with even less room to maneuver than you'd expect.
To add insult to injury, using Overload Explosives on EZ-Mine nodes showers you with ore that you can pick up — or more likely, it will just instantly kill you. While players can invest in the Outlawed Techniques Sub-Specialization of the Mastering the
