Capcom has shared a new trailer revealing Exoprimal crossover content with Street Fighter.
The trailer reveals both Ryu and Guile, but as exosuits. The two look very much like mech versions of themselves, somewhat reminiscent of Street Fighter villain Seth, but also evoking Asura’s Wrath.
While Ryu was shown exchanging fireballs with one of Exoprimal’s main characters, the trailer also clearly shows that Ryu and Guile are carrying arms to the battlefield.
Street Fighter crossovers and collaborations into other Capcom video games isn’t really that unusual. It does seem that depending on the game, the Street Fighter content has to be matched up to what the other game is about.
Most of the time, we see Ryu basically being himself in crossover games like SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash or Marvel vs Capcom 3. However, we did see Ryu and Sakura packing guns for the first time in the Street Fighter crossover for Monster Hunter World.
In that case, the Street Fighter characters did the adjusting so that they would fit into the anachronistic world of Monster Hunter.
This collaboration will be coming in Fall 2023, and it was labeled as Capcom Collab 1. So it’s likely that this is only the first tranche of a series of crossovers planned for Exoprimal.
So yes, I will bring up Mech-Zangief here. Not to be a party pooper, though, but if a bunch of collaborations are planned well in advance, that might betray Capcom not quite being that confident in Exoprimal that they felt this was all necessary.
