The EverQuest Producer’s Letter (following the one for EverQuest II) features a roadmap update, a review of 2023 so far, plus lots of details on the UI engine replacement and the Evolving Ruleset Progression Server.
So what has been going on in EverQuest this year? All of the raids from the Night of Shadows expansion are completely unlocked. In January, EverQuest unlocked the Tier 1 raids, with subsequent unlocks for Tier 2 and Tier 3 coming in February and March. February also brought back Erollisi Day with some new content.
In March, returning events Brew Day and Bristlebane Day were back for the celebrating. March is a big month for EverQuest , since it's also anniversary month. This year marks 24 years, and that celebration also returned in its latest form with new quests and a new event mission.
Over the next few months, expect some changes,both in available content options and on the more practical side. EverQuest is replacing its UI engine, and this will begin to roll out gradually,with more and more windows ported to the new engine throughout the year.
In May, expect the Tempest Festival with some new content. There will also be a new Progression Server, known as an Evolving Ruleset Progression Server. Oakwynd, the upcoming new server will be something of an experimental development. What this comes down to is a series of rules that they are working with Legacy characters and encounter locking. every new expansion that unlocks at the usual 8 to 12 week cadence, will unlock an additional bonus added to the server.
In addition to semi-permanent bonuses for Legacy characters you use, encounter locking could spark competition.
