Hogwarts Legacy, the open-world game based on the Wizarding World released back in February on PC and consoles, is setting out to be one of the most successful releases of the past few years, managing to sell even more than what Warner Bros. Games expected.
As spotted by Twitter user Timur222, Warner Bros. Games Senior Brand Manager Arien Darby confirmed on LinkedIn sales were 256% higher than expected, alongside other known achievements, such as the 12 million units sold in the first two weeks and others.

That Hogwarts Legacy is selling well is no mystery as Hogwarts Legacy topped pretty much every sales chart back in February, its launch becoming the second fastest-selling launch in Europe as well. The game is selling so well that it caused the total video game sales for the first quarter of the year to exceed those of the first quarter of 2022 when multiple high-profile games such as Elden Ring were released. As the game has yet to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, it's almost certain that Hogwarts Legacy will end up being the best-selling game of the year.
The game's success on the market is fully deserved, as Hogwarts Legacy is a competent open-world game that does justice to the source material while adding its own spins. The open-world design isn't particularly inspired, taking more than a few cues from the typical Ubisoft open-world approach, but this shouldn't stop fans of the Wizarding World from getting the game, as highlighted by Chris in his review.
