Zarzakh, the region added to the space-faring MMO, EVE Online, late last year, isunder siege thanks to a new limited-time event.
Zarzakh, which is the staging ground for the Deathless cult that took center stage inlast year's Havoc expansion, is seeing a new event that sees players take on new Horizon Siege Point sites in the systems that have gates to the pirate system. These sites are meant for fleets of 8-10 players (though any enterprising player can try to tackle them solo...assuming you don't mind losing what you're flying with), all to earn rewards for helping fend off the Drifter attacks targeting the system.
The sites themselves are limited to smaller craft and Battlecruiser hulls, so you won't be bringing in the big guns, but Drifters and Sleepers will also roam the systems that are affected by the siege event, providing some opportunities to warm up your guns before dropping into a site.
A new wrinkle is being added to Zarzakh as a response to the attack, with a new gate lock in place during the siege. According to the news post on the EVE Online website:
«In response to these attacks, Zarzakh’s gates have now been placed under Emanation Lock. Capsuleers will only be able to leave Zarzakh via the gate through which they arrived until the 6-hour timer runs out. After 6 hours in-system, the Fulcrum will „naturalize“ individual capsuleers as belonging in Zarzakh, letting them pass through any gate.»
The sites will only be active until September 12th, so players will need fleet up and tackle them fast to score the rewards (and CCP Games recommends keeping the Opportunities Panel open while tackling the sites, hinting at even greater opportunities here).
Zarzakh was added back in 2023 as part of EVE Online's Deathless storyline, as it provided a staging ground for the pirate incursions that wreaked havoc on the Factional Warfare battlegrounds with its Fall expansion. Zarazkh itself is a beautifully brutal region where the very space around your ship is trying
