While watching season 2 of Euphoria, Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion says that she wanted to cry and scream at the characters on the show. Based on an Israeli television series, the hit HBO adaptation is created and written by Sam Levinson. The dark-teenage series stars Zendaya as Rue Bennett, who narrates the stories of the characters and events of the series in the past tense. The role earned Zendaya an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2020.
The series follows a group of adolescent high school students, exploring love and friendships while also navigating the pitfalls of sex, drugs, and relationships. After Rue relapsed during the season 1 finale, season 2 trails the character's struggle with addiction and sobriety as their relationship with Jules (Hunter Schafer) starts to fall apart. Along with Rue hitting rock bottom, the series follows friendships that are tested throughout the season, with Cassie’s (Sydney Sweeney) act of betrayal to her best friend Maddy (Alexa Demie) being at the center. The series also explores newly formed relationships between Lexi (Maude Apatow) and Fez (Angus Cloud), the season’s fan favorite.
