Up until the release of Skyrim in 2011, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion was one of the biggest role-playing games of its time, and it's still making an impact to this day. Even Bethesda is using Oblivion aspects in its upcoming Starfield sci-fi game, which shows that, despite it just recently turning 16, the fourth entry in the series is still beloved by many. Given that, it's hardly surprising that fans are eagerly awaiting Skyblivion, a total recreation of the 2006 game built entirely in the studio's modern engine. While word has yet to spill about its release date, there have been some updates on progress.
In a recent video uploaded to the team's YouTube channel, Skyblivion appears to be edging closer to its inevitable completion, after spending years in development. Sadly, there still doesn't appear to be an official release date yet, but the narrator in the 15-minute video diary mentions that a lot of aspects are close to being finalized, so it's entirely possible that more updates will be forthcoming, hopefully with a launch window.

As well as an introduction on the goblins that infest the world of Cyrodiil, there's also a discussion on the 3D assets that have been built for the unofficial remake, with the narrator calling out for additional volunteers who wish to lend a hand. The project also overhauls a lot of The Elder Scrolls' Daedric artifacts, including the legendary sword Umbra, as well as the Dwemer-made warhammer Volendrung and the golden katana Goldbrand.
