Warning: This article contains spoilers for Euphoria
Euphoria star Javon Walton opens up about the season 2 finale. Walton plays Ashtray in the HBO teen drama, which was created by Sam Levinson, and like all the characters, Ashtray had a busy ending to season 2. In the episode, titled “All My Life, My Heart Has Yearned for a Thing I Cannot Name,” Ash’s tendency to attack first and asks questions later proves to have consequences. Once he learns that Custer (Tyler Chase) is working with the police in an attempt to frame Fez (Angus Cloud) for murder, Ash stabs Custer in the neck. It’s the second time in Euphoria season 2 that Ash has murdered someone.
In an attempt to protect Fez, who is like an older brother to him, he locks himself in the bathroom and instigates a shootout with a SWAT team. Predictably, after plenty of pleading from Fez that Ash should put his weapons down and surrender, the SWAT team shoots and presumably kills Ash. Although a gunshot is heard, the camera focuses on Fez’s expression as this all unfolds.

Speaking with Variety after the Euphoria season 2 finale, Walton strikes an optimistic tone regarding the fate of his character. The 15-year-old actor notes that, if any character could survive a bullet, it would likely be Ashtray. Although it’s true that Walton stops short of making any confirmations one way or the other, he sounds hopeful that Ash could be a part of Euphoria season 3. Walton’s quote is below:
There’s definitely hope for Ashtray to still be alive. Because if there’s somebody who could take a bullet
