Epic rolls out Fortnite Unreal Editor beta
pcgamesinsider.bizFortnite maker Epic Games has rolled out the beta for its Unreal Editor for the battle royale smash hit.
The games giant revealed this news at GDC 2023, which gives players the chance to change up Fortnite using many of the company's Unreal Engine 5 tech. This includes custom asset import, modelling and materials, as well as VFX and control rig.
The Unreal Editor for Fortnite also sees the debut of Epic's new Verse programming language, which also works alongside the existing Fortnite Creative toolset. Verse is also described as "a programming language for the metaverse" – make of that what you will.
Epic is also overhauling its creator economy, as well as creating a unified marketplace for its Unreal Engine, Sketchfab, Quixel Bridge and ArtStation businesses.
Epic initially said that it would be releasing an Unreal Editor for Fortnite back in May 2022.
Oh, and Fortnite now boasts over 500 million players. That's an increase of 150 million since May 2020.
