Destiny 2: Lightfall's raid, Root of Nightmares, has had its final encounter beaten by a single player in a thrilling show of skill and patience. The latest raid for Destiny 2 arrived earlier this month and pitted Guardians against disciples of the Witness as they fight through a partially destroyed Pyramid ship.
The recent Lightfall expansion has seen a rollercoaster of public opinion across the past month of its existence. Many were disappointed with a storyline that felt underwhelming, particularly when Bungie's marketing had hyped up Lightfall's narrative to be its primary selling point. The backlash was so intense that Steam reviews for the expansion settled at a «Mostly Negative» average. But once the initial dissatisfaction began to fade away, players were increasingly complimentary of what Lightfall, as an entire package, had to offer. Others maintained hope that the raid, due to arrive at a later date so that Guardians could gear up sufficiently, would provide compelling lore and encounters.

Since the raid launched, Destiny 2 content creator TheSnazzzyRock has been attempting to complete certain encounters with just one other guardian or solo. For context, raids in Destiny 2 are some of the most difficult and complex content available, balanced for six players, and can be seemingly impossible without at least two people.
