Elite Dangerous Developer Frontier Is Planning Layoffs As Part Of An Effort To Return To Profitability
Frontier is planning on laying off employees as part of an effort to 'reshape Frontier' following disappointing financial performance, according to a new report by GamesIndustry.biz.
The Elite Dangerous developer announced its intention during a trading update, according to the report, with the UK developer stating that one of its goals is to reduce its operating costs by as much as 20% — part of which seems to be employee salaries.
While the layoffs happening aren't immediate, they are looming as the company conducts an «organizational review» of its business, which looks to end in early 2024. GamesIndustry.biz reports that one of the factors surrounding the poor performance was due to F1 Manager, which debuted to disappointing sales figures. Frontier also cites «more challenging industry conditions» as another reason for the revamp to its operations.
