Some of these secrets lie with the dead, the only ones actually capable of answering certain questions – while the quest with He Who Was in pushes players to speak with a dead character, this tactic can be repeated with several other NPCs to learn more about the world.

A great example of this is using the Speak with Dead spell on Arabella’s dad, which allows players to figure out who was responsible for her parents’ deaths. Another great moment to use the spell in is during the investigation of the murders that happened in the Open Hand Temple in Act 3. While it does not play a pivotal role in most parts of the game, this special spell usually grants players more bits of information that can help them on their quest, and one particular dead NPC can provide answers to the very intentions of the Dead Three, the main antagonists of the game.
