In Dark Souls games there are no items more coveted for multiplayer shenanigans than Carvings. These items can be used to emit a phrase from the player, and in Dark Souls 3 there are five that could be collected. In Elden Ring, this vocalizing mechanic returns in the form of Prattling Pates.

Prattling Pates in Elden Ring are items that can be equipped and used to make your character say something, though it's really the Pate that says it. Prattling Pates are key items in Elden Ring that can be equipped in the quick slot bar or in the pouch. Using one makes your character raise the twisted piece of clay up to their mouth, which creates a faint mist and expels an echoing, deep voice all around. They are normally used in multiplayer situations for basic communication, as Gestures just aren't enough sometimes.
Prattling Pates work essentially the same way as Carvings from previous FromSoft titles, though instead of dropping the item on the floor to create noise characters raise it up to their face. There aren't many applications for these unique items in single-player, sure, but they are coveted items nonetheless.
Prattling Pate: Please Help can be found in the Impaler's Catacombs, a dungeon located in the northern part of the Weeping Peninsula.
