Elden Ring has made a blockbuster start at US retail, according to market research firm NPD Group.
From Software’s game, which was only released on February 25, debuted as both the best-selling title of the month as well as 2022 year to date, ranked on dollar sales.
Based on its launch month sales, Elden Ring is also already the fifth best-selling title of the 12-month period ending February 2022, NPD analyst Mat Piscatella said on Friday.
The game’s launch month sales were only bettered by those of one other game released in the last year, November 2021’s Call of Duty: Vanguard.
Elden Ring appears set to be From Software’s most successful game to date. Its UK release was the biggest launch for a game other than FIFA or Call of Duty since Rockstar‘s Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018.
And it’s Steam‘s sixth biggest game ever in terms of concurrent players, with a peak of over 950,000 – more than seven times that of Dark Souls III.
