An Elden Ring streamer has suffered a gruesome and quite hilarious defeat, losing an eleven-hour randomized permadeath run to a rare Roundtable Hold invasion while in the bathroom. Two years after launch, developer FromSoftware has finally revealed the release date of Elden Ring's highly anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, set to launch on June 21.
There are very few safe spots in Elden Ring's Lands Between to take a break. Coupled with the fact that the game doesn't truly pause, players must take extra care when setting the controller down. This becomes even more of a factor during no-hit or permadeath runs of FromSoftware's brutally challenging open world Souls game, as the slightest mishap could render a run failed. One particular Elden Ring mod on PC randomizes the game's boss encounters and story items, making it possible to come across late-game threats in Elden Ring's earlier areas. To add fuel to the fire, dying during one of these randomized runs sends the player back to the beginning and reshuffles all the bosses and items in The Lands Between.
One Elden Ring streamer, Elajjaz, made it eleven hours into one of these randomized permadeath runs before suffering a brutal and humiliating defeat. Needing to make a trip to the bathroom, Elajjaz brought his character to Elden Ring's Roundtable Hold, a small NPC hub that's always safe with the rare exceptions of two hostile NPC invasions that can occur. While Elajjaz was away, one of these NPCs spawned and began attacking his character. By the time he returned to the stream, he was greeted by the mod's starting area, the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds, indicating that his eleven-hour run had come to a premature end.
