FromSoftware head Hidetaka Miyazaki reveals that Elden Ring will feature a poison swamp, an infamous staple of the esteemed studio, and it will contain never-before-seen hazards. The developer's upcoming title will translate the «soulsborne» formula into a vast open world, known as The Lands Between, as players venture to overcome the setting's demigod rulers. While the wait has been excruciating for many gamers, Elden Ring's February 25 release date is now rapidly approaching.
With a long history stretching from Demon's Souls to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, FromSoftware has continued to evolve the soulsborne genre with each subsequent title. FromSoftware projects also construct deep and complex fantasy worlds for players to explore, with backstories and lore often left for players to piece together through item descriptions, character dialogue and environmental details. With Elden Ring the soulsborne experience will be expanded to encompass an entire open world, boasting various routes through levels and hidden side content to discover. The final map size of Elden Ring has not been officially revealed, but the title is expected to be incredibly vast.
