Each comes with a wide range of stats and abilities that can dramatically change any encounter.
When playing Dungeons & Dragons as a Dungeon Master, one of the most important tasks is creating battle encounters. This determines when, where, and what monsters the players will be fighting on their adventure. While the official D&D books supply a large variety of creatures, many players also turn to «homebrew» monsters. Homebrew content, which can be monsters, characters, items, or the adventures themselves, are non-officially made things to be used within a campaign. These fusions of Pokémon with Dungeons & Dragons are an example of creative homebrew content made by fans for fans.

Twitter user and artist bromojumbo has combined Pokémon and Dungeons & Dragons into new monsters that can be used in any D&D campaign. Bromojumbo's posted creations currently include a Displacer Beast combined with a Persian, a Mimic Chest with an Electrode, Malamar with a Mindflayer, and finally some Croagunks with Grungs. Each creature has its set of stats, abilities, alignment, Dex entry, and even a «Catch Roll» which shows the DC a player must roll if they want to catch the Pokémon. Each drawing combines the familiar qualities of both the Pokémon and D&D monsters, such as the Displacer Beast's sharp-toothed tentacles paired with the Persian's forehead gem and face.
