Throughout all of , players will find themselves up against tough choices. With every decision bearing an impact of unknown ramifications, it's important to think through every choice and the power they hold. One of the largest and first major decisions though, is whether players decide to ask Neve or Harding to follow them to the statue.
As Solas' ritual nears completion, players will have to decide whether Neve or Harding will be the one to aid them in their task of toppling the statues forming part of the spell. While sounding relatively harmless, whoever is chosen will be up against painful flying debris and the devastating effects of raw magic all at once. Putting any companion up against this risk is tough, and players might want to know the full weight of their choices — as this one will change their story.
Having just recruited Neve, players will come across Solas in the Arlathan Forest, performing his ritual that needs to be put to an end. Despite Varric's attempts to talk Solas down by referencing their adventures throughout , it's clear that nothing is quite getting through to him and other measures need to be taken. As such, players will need to decide which of the two willing companions they'll be bringing along to intervene: Neve or Harding.
No matter which character is chosen, they will look beaten up and have bruises and scars for several missions following this one.
Like all decisions in this one will have an impact throughout the game, as choosing Neve will see her character injured and unable to participate in the game's next mission. With long-lasting visual effects that heal into scars over the course of the game, it will always serve as a reminder of what happened. Neve will also greatly approve of the choice to include her, raising the player's bond levels with her and ultimately opening the romance door very early on.
