Omniknight in Dota 2 has been a strong support for the longest time, but recently got a rework that requires a skill build change. Omniknight's new skill gives him a much stronger laning presence. Hammer of Purity has a low mana cost and low cooldown and does a moderate amount of pure damage along with a slow that scales with level. This ability is amazing for trading, as it's one of the most efficient spells in the game in terms of damage per mana.

Degen Aura certainly had its uses on the pre-rework Omniknight in Dota 2, but those uses were often limited enough to where players would take extra stats over actually leveling the skill. The slow is great when Omniknight is survivable enough to stay on enemies, but a support Omniknight seldom is. Fortunately, core Omniknights now have the option of buying this ability when it's appropriate instead of all Omniknights being forced to have it.
Support Omniknight is all about keeping teammates alive in Dota 2. Hammer of Purity is taken at level 1 due to its strong laning but is maxed last because of its relatively poor scaling. Purification is maxed first as it's the best ability in the game in terms of creating a health swing; level 1 purification heals 90 health and does 90 pure damage in an AoE, and almost no spells come close to this power, especially when leveled up.
