Jackass Forever is all about its aging stars working to stay relevant in a changing media environment that has nearly passed them by—in addition to a bunch of hilarious slapstick stunts—but does staying relevant in 2022 include adding in an end-credits scene?
The cast of Jackass is 22 years older than they were when the original series launched on MTV in 2000. The excellent critical reviews earned by Jackass Forever ahead of its February 4 release date suggest that despite middle-age, Johnny Knoxville and his long-time co-stars have found the secret to being completely entertaining to every generation. The expansion of the cast in Jackass Forever, which now includes younger members like rapper Jasper Dolphin and comedian Rachel Wolfson—the first woman to join the cast of Jackass—has broadened the reach of the series to fans both old and young.

Audience members who stay for the credits may or may not be surprised to see a particularly sentimental moment after the movie ends: a heartfelt tribute to Ryan Dunn, one of the founding members of the Jackass cast who sadly died in a car crash in 2011. Dunn was only 34 years old at the time of his death, and was a fan-favorite on the original MTV series as well as the first three Jackass movies.
The news of Ryan Dunn’s death was a shock to many after so many years of witnessing the cast hurt themselves over and over again. Dunn’s absence is felt throughout the movie, infusing the stunts with a subliminal knowledge of the cast’s own age and mortality. It only ends up being a short moment of remembrance in the credits, but it feels right to give thanks to Dunn for his many years of work entertaining fans of Jackass.
