Fortunately, Drax does not die in the third and final Guardians movie. There was a lot of speculation that he would die after Dave Bautista confirmed that this would be his final outing as Drax.
In a profile with GQ, Bautista said, “I’m so grateful for Drax. I love him. But there’s a relief [that it’s over]. It wasn’t all pleasant. It was hard playing that role. The makeup process was beating me down. And I just don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy—it’s a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff.”
In, Drax brings even more of the laughs you would expect from his character. He works with the Guardians in their adventure, where he messes things up at first, to the annoyance of Nebula (Karen Gillan). However, Drax soon leads a group of children to safety, making them laugh in a time of need. He stays behind to help raise the kids, getting to be a father again for the first time since his daughter died at the hands of Ronan the Accuser.
is now playing in theaters.
