Following the massive success of Baldur's Gate 3, Hasbro and Wizard's of the Coast have approved Disney Dreamlight Valley developer Gameloft Montreal to work on a brand new Dungeons and Dragons survival-RPG. The 2023 Game of the Year Baldur's Gate 3 was seen by many as a return to form for Dungeons and Dragons video games, and the IP's owners are keen to keep the momentum rolling with another upcoming title based on the classic franchise.
One of the biggest tabletop RPGs of all time, Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy game that features a variety of races and factions, dice-rolling mechanics, and ethereal realms. Fans have long adored Dungeons and Dragons for its massively extensive storytelling possibilities and enjoyable high-fantasy setting and characters, leading many for years to want the experience transferred from tabletop to gaming. Now with a number of DnD games on the market, Gameloft Montreal is looking to join the party with its own release.
First reported by IGN, Disney Dreamlight Valley developer Gameloft Montreal is currently working on an upcoming survival-RPG set within the universe of Dungeons and Dragons. The game is said to take place in the Forgotten Realms and will feature co-op gameplay with real-time survival, life-sim, and action RPG mechanics. Players will need to work their way through a unique yet dangerous campaign that will require resilience and camaraderie to overcome the journey that lies ahead. Though no official title or release window has been revealed, Gameloft did confirm that the game is expected to launch for PC and consoles. Also revealed was a single piece of key art featuring a small band of characters overlooking a mystical realm. With a number of popular titles from Gameloft showcasing the studio's abilities, DnD fans are excitedly awaiting further news on this new survival-RPG.
