While it’s hard to know exactly who started the “fighting game crossover” idea, though it was likely Nintendo or Capcom, given their track records with the concept, everyone jumped on to do it once it was made possible. Fast forward to now, and despite Mortal Kombat 1 already being a hyped game through its main roster full of familiar yet reimagined characters, many are already looking to the DLC fighters we’ll get soon enough. Why? Because NetherRealm Studios has gone all out with those characters in the past, and one rumor seems to have been confirmed via Homelander of The Boys.
The irony was that this “reveal” was done within a reveal for something else entirely. You might have seen yesterday a message from “Vought International” about some characters from The Boys showing up in Call of Duty. On the official Tik Tok video of that message, if you scroll down, the “Creator” for the Tik Tok account replied to a message about the characters also showing up in Mortal Kombat 1.
Their reply? “MK Confirmed.”
There’s plenty to make of that, including that this person arguably wasn’t supposed to say that. Plus, despite this “reveal” coming early, the message is still up there for you to view, so perhaps the higher-ups at WBD haven’t seen what was said yet.
As for how this connects to Homelander, he was part of a “leak” that said he, Omni-Man, and Peacemaker would each make their way into the new NetherRealm Studios title. So if this “Konfirmation” holds, then it’s very likely that the other two will also show up.
As for what makes Homelander so perfect for the game, it’s because he’s a literal self-centered psychopath who isn’t afraid to kill anyone on a whim.
In the comics/show, he’s known for lashing out at just about anyone
