There are some new estimates claiming that Diablo Immortal , which is currently marking its first anniversary with events and new features, raked in over $525 million over its first year.
The report comes from Data.ai, which puts Diablo Immortal as the 15th fastest mobile game to reach $500 million, following other mobile titles likePokémon GO, Candy Crush Saga, and Genshin Impact. Diablo Immortal released last June to some criticism over its monetization tactics, leading to some controversy, but also great success. even early reports soon after lunch or showing that the game, which was co-developed by Blizzard and NetEase, was attracting users fast andthey were opening their wallets.
While this is unofficial data, the take of $525 million in player spending with over 22 million downloads puts Diablo Immortal into the number three spot if you just count mobile MMORPGs. Half a billion dollars in revenue comes from an estimated lifetime spend largest in NetEase’s home country of China, but also with a very large US-based audience. Data.ai also estimates that in 2023, US interest in Diablo Immortal is growing, moving the US market into the lead in spending this year.
Diablo Immortal is currently hosting a crossover event with Diablo IV, which is now Blizzard's fastest-selling launch ever. For that game and those numbers, Blizzard released official numbersnoting the $666 million in global sales in the game's first five days after launch.
