Diablo 3's story and characters almost ruined the game. As the third installment of the Diablo series, it has gone on to gain mixed reviews, but it is the story that ultimately proved to be one of its worst elements. Opportunities for great plot and mystery were often missed and many of the characters had unrealistic dialogue that contributed to taking players out of the story. Diablo 3 takes place 20 years after the events of Diablo 2. Diablo 3 sees the return of many favorite classes, beloved characters, and NPCs. The world of Sanctuary has been overrun by demons and the human world is in desperate need of a hero or so the game frequently reminds the player. The hero, known as the Nephalem, aids Leah and the fallen angel Tyrael in defeating the forces of hell to bring back peace to the human realms. The Nephalem predictably conquers Diablo and foils his plans to over through the heavens.
