Bungie confirms upcoming plans over the next year in Destiny 2 including a way to play legacy exotic missions through a weekly rotation system. Sunsetting content has been a hot button issue for fans of Destiny 2 after Bungie initially announced it prior to the Beyond Light expansion. Once that expansion arrived, legacy locations like Mars, Io, and Mercury were outright removed from the game including various weapons and activities such as Black Armory Forges.
As a sense of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) began to grow, Bungie began to soften its stance on content removal and even took steps to change this policy. Seasonal content now remains in place for much longer than it did previously, weapon and armor sunsetting has been effectively removed entirely, and last year, General Manager Justin Truman even confirmed that Bungie has no plans to sunset any more expansions going forward. Bungie continues to work on reduing FOMO for its players and this latest change should alleviate a lot of fears players had with fan favorite content going away after this season ends.
Bungie Will Further Simplify Destiny 2's Weapon Crafting When Lightfall Launches
In a new blog post, Destiny 2 game director Joe Blackburn outlined the studio's plans for the upcoming year kicking off at the end of February with the launch of Lightfall. In terms of PvE content, Bungie announced that it plans to not only continue creating unique exotic missions, but to enable Destiny 2 players to experience ones they may have missed by adding an Exotic Mission Rotator from the Director. The plan is to incorporate this system by Season 22 and it will rotate the available missing on a weekly basis.
The system will likely seem very familiar to current Destiny 2
