The latest Dead Space remake update gives players the much-requested option to be able to downgrade the RIG to lower levels to change its appearance.
Even though the Dead Space remake has a ton of different suits for the player to choose from (with one even having a pretty creepy secret to discover), one of the most requested features from fans since launch is for an option to be added to downgrade the default RIG to its lower levels as, before the update, you could only level it up and had to stick with the upgraded version.

Thankfully, Motive has listened to the fans wanting to give Isaac a disadvantage and added the option to downgrade the suit's appearance in the latest update for the game. According to the patch notes for the update (thanks MP1st), the changes to the suit are only visual, so any upgrades made to Isaac's health or item capacity are still kept - the RIG will just look how it did at whatever level you select.
The patch notes for the update read, "We now let the previously acquired suit visuals be equipped. Current or new acquired suit visuals are available in Storage and can be combined with the option to upgrade them. If you want to remove the cosmetic, pick the current made-up cosmetic suit from the storage, and select the unfit option. Changing your cosmetics don’t affect the upgrades you’ve acquired."
The new option is being celebrated by fans over on the Dead Space subreddit, with one of the most popular posts over the last few days being one that highlights the change.
