According to The Cosmic Circus, Lovecraft Country director Jeffrey Nachmanoff has been tapped to direct Marvel Studios’ upcoming. Nachmanoff will join previously announced director Michael Cuesta (Homeland) in the Disney+ revival. The follow-up to the 2015 Marvel Netflix series is currently filming in New York City.
Nachmanoff first gained recognition for his screenplay for 2004’s sci-fi disaster film The Day After Tomorrow. He made his feature-length directorial debut in 2008 with the Don Cheadle-led spy thriller Traitor, which he followed up with 2018’s Keanu Reeves-led sci-fi thriller Replicas.
Daredevil: Born Again is described as an 18-episode revival of the original, which ran for three seasons. It will feature the return of leading stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, as they reprise their respective roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.
Both characters made their Marvel Cinematic Universe debuts in 2021. Kingpin guest-starred in the Disney+ Hawkeye series, and Matt Murdock briefly appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Cox also recently guest-starred in two episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he showed off a lighter side of the hero.
In addition to Cox and D’Onofrio, the Daredevil revival will also see the long-awaited return of Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher. Joining them are Sandrine Holt as Vanessa Fisk, Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Michael Gaston, Nikki M. James, and Arty Froushan.
Daredevil: Born Again hails from head writers Matt Corman and Chris Ord, who will also serve as executive producers along with Kevin Feige. The series is currently set to premiere in the spring of 2024 on Disney+.
