Cyberpunk 2077 is probably in the running for the open world game with the most hidden references and secret Easter eggs, with new discoveries being made on an almost weekly basis. GTA: San Andreas, The Matrix, Death Stranding, The Witcher 3, and pretty much every other popular game or movie release over the past two decades has made a little cameo somewhere, but one of the game's more interesting secret messages has been hiding in plain sight ever since launch.
First shared by IGN, a Reddit user by the name of CommericalLeg2439 explains that they were staring up at the Grand Imperial Mall one night, specifically at the sign which has certain letters illuminated while others aren't. They explain in a recent Reddit post that they thought they looked like they could possibly have a Latin translation, and shoved the letters into a translator out of curiosity.
Putting all the highlighted letters in order gives you the phrase "GRA D IMPERI L MALI", or "grad imperi mali" if you drop the L. Filter that through a translator of some kind and you'll get a phrase that basically breaks down to "degree of evil government". Latin is a funny ol' language that can mean a lot of different things depending on the context, but it most likely means "government bad".
If you've played Cyberpunk 2077, or you're just familiar with the entire genre, you'll know that "government bad" is a very thematic for a game that sort of revolves around corruption and the people who suffer for it. In fact, other fans in the comments have even suggested that the "L" in the phrase may actually have meaning too, as the letter represent the number 50 in Latin. With 50 states in the US, it could be interpreted as saying the entire American government is corrupt and awful.
