Creepy Jar has showcased the environment of StarRupture, its upcoming sci-fi survival game. The environment of StarRupture is highly inspired by one environment that is mostly untouched by people, and that is the nation of Iceland. Creepy Jar has used Iceland’s natural landscape to create the foundation of StarRupture’s hostile world.
The showcase delves into how Iceland inspired the look of the game due to having a near prehistoric look and feel to it. The video also shows how resources are shown in the StarRupture, for example titanium has been given the shape of basalt rock columns, and given a shine inspired by other materials. Even with such a hostile natural environment, life does thrive in StarRupture with plants and animals adapting to the unstable world. The majority of the animals will be especially hostile to players, though a few will not pose any real danger. The planet in StarRupture is littered with remnants from previous expeditions, none of which survived the harsh conditions that they came up against. Those remnants include abandoned bases which contain resources that were left behind.
In StarRupture, players take on the role of an exile from Earth who has been tasked with mining and expanding a base as part of their sentence. Players will be able to play solo or up to four player co-op. As well as dealing with the weather issues the planet, the fauna will attack and be a threat to player progress. There will be regular cycles of attacks, and it will be about learning on how to deal with those threats to make the base more resilient.
A release date for StarRupture is yet to be confirmed.
