According to WindowsCentral's Jez Corden, he has some evidence that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming to Xbox.
That's what Corden said in the most recent Xbox Two episode with YouTuber 'Rand al Thor'. In the stream, the duo talked about the upcoming Xbox Direct, Bethesda's Indiana Jones game, and third-party titles, including the latest Final Fantasy games. We know that 2020's Final Fantasy VII Remake had a timed exclusivity period of one year, and the PC version was released in 2021. To the dismay of Xbox players, the game still hasn't been released on Xbox platforms. This might change, however, as Corden has pointed out that he has tentative evidence that there are discussions about an Xbox version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. As also pointed out during the stream, however, both Sony and Square Enix could be kind of reluctant to release the Xbox version close to next month's second part of the remake - Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. We've included the timestamped video in which the duo talks about FF7 Remake for Xbox below.
“I got evidence tentatively that there are discussions about Final Fantasy VII for Xbox", Corden said during the episode. He added, "But I do agree with you that [Sony and Square Enix both] wouldn't want to take the shine of Rebirth right now by releasing Final Fantasy 7 Remake for Xbox, but I do think that it will happen."
Final Fantasy VII Remake is available worldwide now on PC, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. Here's what we wrote about the Remake in our launch review in 2020.
"Remaking Final Fantasy VII properly is something that was always going to be very difficult to achieve. Everything considered, Square Enix did a good job with the first part, but the controversial ending is going to divide the fanbase: some will love it, some will hate it. It is undeniable, however, that the developer managed to make this feel like an epic journey just by using a small slice of the whole adventure."
