The Valiant is a historically inspired real-time strategy game (with RPG mechanics) we've been keeping an eye on for a while now. At long last, its 11th July release date is almost upon us. We got a new trailer that answers our most burning question, one which should be on the lips of every committed strategy fan playing on PlayStation: How does it handle?
Thankfully, it looks quite intuitive, with the ability to select specific units using a radial menu and commanding groups easily with an enlarged cursor. It will likely all feel quite overwhelming initially, but at least so far, it's looking good.
In The Valiant, players can embark on a narrative single-player campaign, where named characters will lead squads of soldiers on a sprawling tale of vengeance set against the bloody historical backdrop of the Fifth Crusade. These characters will gain experience over time, learning skills which will grant them powerful new abilities and increase the efficacy of their squad.
Once they've got a handle on how it all works, players can take their newfound skills online and engage in a medieval melee with others for bragging rights and chivalric glory. We look forward to decimating digital knaves when the game goes live, provided the controls are up to the task.
What do you think of The Valiant, will you command a 13th-century host with nothing but your wits and a DualSense? Let us know in the comments section below.
