Of Sony’s several first-party releases still lined up for the coming months of 2024, the one that probably has the most difficult fight ahead of itself as far as public perception is concerned is Concord, with the hero shooter having been met with some skepticism since its full reveal last month. Ahead of its launch in August, however, the game is going to give players the opportunity to get a healthy taste of its offerings with an open beta, details on which have now been revealed.
Sony and Firewalk Studios have announced that an open beta for Concord will go live on July 18 and remain up until July 21. Those who pre-order the game, however, will receive a week’s early access to the beta for themselves and four friends, from July 12 to July 14. Cross-play will be supported across PS5 and PC.
Concord’s open beta is looking like it’ll be a packed one, based on that content that it’ll allow players to sample. For starters, all sixteen of the game’s playable roster of Freegunners will be available in the beta, with multiple maps and modes being available.
During the early access weekend, four maps will be available in the form of Freewater, Water Hazard, Star Chamber, and Shock Risk, with a fifth, Bone Mines, becoming available during the open beta weekend. Similarly, the early access weekend will bring three modes- Cargo Run, Clash Point, and Trophy Hunt. A fourth mode, Area Control, will be added during the open beta weekend.
The very first cinematic vignettes that the game will feature will also be included with the open beta.
Concord launches for PS5 and PC in full on August 23. Its standard edition will retail for $39.99, with post-launch plans including free maps, characters, modes, and more.
